St Anthony’s Feast at Milagres Church on June 13

June 3: Holy Mass on the third day of the novena was held at St Anthony’s Ashram Chapel at Jeppu, Mangalore, on Sunday, June 2. Fr Arun Lobo, director of the Counselling Centre, Mangalore Diocese, offered Holy Mass.  The mass was held in preparation for the annual feast of St Anthony to be celebrated on June 13.
Catholics all over the world celebrate the Ascension of Lord Jesus into heaven on this Sunday. Fr Lobo said that the feast of Ascension is of Jesus ascending to Heaven 40 days after he rose from death. On the third day of the novena, Holy Mass was offered for the intention of children. He appealed to children to take Jesus as their model and strive to lead a life pleasing to God and helpful to human beings in society.
Ashram Director Fr Onil D’Souza conducted the novena. Assistant Director Fr Roshan D’Souza recited the chaplet and the rosary. Fr Thrishan D’Souza was present on the occasion. Hundreds of devotees participated in the devotion.
The 13-day novena in preparation for the annual feast of St Anthony began on May 31. The main festive Holy Mass will be celebrated by Mangalore Bishop Fr (Dr) Peter Paul Saldanha at Milagres Church on June 13.
