The state government has approved a proposal to sanction 23.25 acres of land for the construction of a cricket stadium of international standards at Kabaka of Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district. The stadium will be built by Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA)

In July 2019, a 25-acre block of land in Kabaka village was approved for use in the construction of an international cricket stadium at the Deputy Commissioner level.
