Stinking fishwater on the roads: Police to take action

April 27: City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil received a complaint during the weekly phone-in programme which was held in Mangalore on Friday. Responding to the complaint, Commissioner said that a meeting with fish transporters will be conducted soon to discuss measures on discouraging fish-carrying trucks from discharging the foul-smelling wastewater on the roads.
He said that even though the Police Department has already been carrying out special drives to prevent truck drivers from discharging the fish waste water on the road, there is a need to convince truck owners and ensure that the problem is solved at source.
Fish trucks which discharge wastewater on roads were causing a nuisance to the publicand has to be stopped, he added.
