Team of Kite Flyers From Mangalore Design 50ft Kite Highlighting Tulunad Traditions For International Cultural Jamboree

Team Mangalore, a group of kite flyers from the city  have designed a 50ft Indian traditional kite for the International Cultural Jamboree of the Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG), Karnataka, that will be held at the Alva’s Campus, Vidyagiri, in Moodbidri, from Wednesday to December 27.

The kite is 50ft kite that is 16ft wide, and is made of a fabric that is used to make umbrellas and will highlight the essence of Tulunadu, including its culture and tradition. This kite is unique, and will be hung from the sixth floor of a building at the Alva’s campus, in memory of the international jamboree held at the campus The kite has been conceptualised and designed by Dinesh Holla.

A dedicated team of kite flyers and artists have worked on this project. Artists Dinesh Holla, Naveen Adkar, Sathish Rao, Anuradha, Bhavan PG, Sapna Noronha, Pranesh Kudroli, Dharini and Preetham have worked on the painting and colour scheme. The technical work was undertaken by Sarvesh Rao, and supported by Arun Kumar. The stitching was undertaken by Ravi Shetty Arasinamakki, and the bamboo sticks were provided by Shekhar Poojary Shishila. Avinash Bhide provided space to stitch the kite in Belthangady.
