Tent Found Inside A Forest Near Kollur: Naxals or Spiritualists? Police Confirm

September 19: A blue tent was found inside the reserve forest in Maadibare, Kollur village. Panic spread among the local residents after it was suspected that the tent belonged to naxals who soon tipped off the police on the presence of a tent inside the forest.

The tent was found very close to a spot which is frequented by people. It is a forest area where people collect firewood and grass for cattle. About four kilometres from this spot are the Arasingagundi waterfalls.
Sources said cooking materials, kumkum box, white colour dhoti, a terracota material jubba were found inside the tent.
A team including officials from Kollur police station and DySP Ganesh M Hegde from the Anti-Naxal Hebri, and forest officials arrived at the spot and carried out a combing operation. A search was also conducted in the adjoining forest area and also examined the items recovered from the tent.
A preliminary investigation revealed that it was a temporary tent and may have been used by those inclined towards spiritualism.
Superintendent of Police Nisha James on Wednesday clarified that the tent did not belong to the naxals. However, the police have been placed on alert in the area.
