For the first time in several years, the Indian Railways has increased ticket fares, with effect from today. Fares for air-conditioned (AC) classes in Mail and Express trains have been increased by 2 paise per kilometre, while non-AC classes will see a hike of 1 paise per kilometre. For regular second-class travel up to 500 km, the previous fare has been retained. Beyond 500 km, the fare will increase by 0.5 paise per kilometre. Similarly, fares for ordinary sleeper class and first-class travel have also been hiked by 0.5 paise per kilometre.
The revised fares will apply to premier and special trains, including Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar, Amrit Bharat, Mahamana, Gatimaan, Antyodaya, Jan Shatabdi, Yuva Express, AC Vistadome Coaches, and Anubhuti Coaches, among others. All regular trains (excluding suburban trains) will also come under the new fare structure.
