The Musical Fountain With a Laser Show at Kadri Park Will Soon Be Functional: MUDA to Take Responsibility

The Mangalore Urban Development Authority (Muda) will soon repair the defunct musical fountain with a laser show, at the Old Deer Park in Kadri Park in the city which is in pathetic condition due to rusting infrastructure of the musical fountain and laser show.

The fountain opened in 2018, but was closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The laser shows designed with various themes, including Yakshagana, kambala, Bhootharadhane and other cultural heritage of Tulunadu, were being shown to visitors initially. In the beginning, the show was for free, but after three months, the horticulture department fixed an entry fee of Rs 50 for adults, and Rs 25 for children. Later, the entry fee was reduced to Rs 30 and Rs 15, for adults and children, respectively.

Muda chairman Ravishankar Mijar said that the authority is in touch with the agency that developed the music fountain and laser show at the park. New schemes of the laser show with different themes will be designed to attract more people to the park. A proposal in this regard has been approved in the Muda meeting. There are plans to redevelop the infrastructure of the fountain, and reintroduce the laser show at the earliest.
