These guidelines are given by the Supreme Court regarding safety of school children: Click to know

June 5: A meeting was held at the Police Commissionerate office in Mangalore by DCP Lakshmi Ganesh, ACP Manjunath Shetty and RTO John Misquith on the directions of the City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil.
Police officers have directed the representatives of schools, Transport Department officers, bus, taxi and auto drivers to follow the guidelines of Supreme Court regarding safety of schoolchildren while carrying them in vehicles.
As per the guidelines of SC all school buses must have first aid boxes. Along with this speed breakers should be installed in the vehicles. The school vehicles should have fire extinguishers and parallel bars fitted in windows. The vehicles should have the phone numbers of the school head teachers. There should be enough space to keep the bags. . CCTV cameras should be installed on the school premises at the entrance, facing the road. Separate toilets should be constructed for boys and girls in the school and a woman staff should be deployed near the girls’ toilets in the schools
The police officers also explained the measures to be taken while recruiting drivers and staff for the school. DCP Lakshmi Ganesh said that the safety of children inside the school premises is the  responsibility of the school all the safety guidelines should be followed. DCP mentioned that Strict action will be taken against those who violate the guidelines given by the Supreme Court on the safety of schoolchildren.
