May 20: Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has opened a control room to tackle the increasing water crisis and lack of water supply to city. This water treatment unit and pumping station at Bendoorwell will address complaints related to water supply in Mangalore. The helpline numbers are 2220303 and 2220362.
The control room will addressed complaints relating to water supply issues only in Mangalore cityand will not entertain complaints in areas beyond Kuluru Bridge like Panambur, Surathkal, and Hosabettu.
The Mangalore City Corporation has six tankers and eight other water tanker-fixed jeeps and is lifting water from a private open well in Jeppinamogaru and from a bore well in St. Joseph Nagara to supply water through tankers.
A water supply official said that some open wells are being cleaned and kept ready for lifting water during the monsoon.
