These Many Roads In Dakshina Kannada Are Quite Risky & Prone to Frequent Accidents: Check Out

January 29: A survey was conducted recently by the Dakshina Kannada police which has identified 123 spots prone to road accidents or black spots. The Dakshina Kannada police which operates in Bantwal, Sullia, Belthangady, Puttur and Kadaba taluks, conducted a survey found 123 accident spots on the Bantwal-Bengaluru highway, BC Road-Belthangady Road and Bantwal-Sampaje road. The survey was conducted under the leadership of superintendent of police B M Laxmi Prasad.
The survey reports have been submitted to the PWD and NHAI and a request has been made to them to them to make necessary changes on the roads, which witness frequent accidents. The highest fatal and non-fatal accidents occur on the Bantwal-Sampaje road.
Superintendent of police Laxmi Prasad, said that these roads are wide and motorists tend to speed here, resulting in many head-on collisions and result in multiple deaths.
SP Laxmi Prasad said that the government bodies have been to take corrective measures to prevent accident. The measures include making curved roads straight so there is clear visibility, installation of speed breakers, pedestrian crossings, road strips, road marking and sign boards, road widening in certain places, installation of lights wherever there is poor illumination and much more.
The government has earmarked Rs 28 crore for road widening and other works, and also kept aside Rs 2 crore to make necessary arrangements in accident spots.
