These students with Konkani as third language have secured 100% results in the SSLC exams

June 8: Students who opted Konkani as their third language in the SSLC exams from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts have secured 100 per cent results. Konkani is being taught in 16 schools in the three coastal districts under the aegis of World Konkani Centre, Mangalore.
Blenish Crasta and Anisha Crasta of St Lawrence School, Moodubelle, scripted glory by securing 99% marks in the exams. Sneha P, Prasanna Prabhu Hangala, Prajwal Gatti, Ramananda Mallya of Nalanda School, Mangaluru, scored 98%, 95%, 93% and 90% marks, respectively. Prerana, Vikram Kamath Khyathi Sathish Nayak of Canara School secured 96%, 94% and respectively; Preethika Kharvi, Rasika Kharvi, Kavya Mesta and Nayana Borkar scored 94%, 93%, 92% and 91% respectively. Aishwarya Tadasa of Sumathi Damle School, Karwar, scored 94%. Anjali Nayak and Namratha Govekar of Hindu High School, Karwar, scored 94% and 91%, respectively, and Pavithra Kharvi and Roopitha Kharvi of New English School Honnavar, scored 95% and 92%, respectively.
The Gowd Saraswath Brahmin Association of Mangalore has announced prizes for all these toppers. Usha Mohan Pai a personal cash award for the two toppers from Lawrence School, Moodubelle.
WKC provides an annual scholarship of Rs1,000 for students opting for Konkani as third language and salaries of teachers teaching Konkani in 16 schools. Konkani as a third optional language was officially introduced in the academic year 2007-08 after a trial run in2006-07.
