This is how few Mangaloreans celebrated World Bicycle Day
June 4: The cycling community in Mangalore celebrated World Bicycle Day by organising group rides in order to popularise the use of bicycles in daily life. Members of Mangalore Bicycle Club (MBC) with members of Cycling Buddies (CB) participated in a group ride for about 25 km across the city to create awareness about the benefits of cycling.
Mangalore Bicycle Club (MBC) stated that cycling is a sustainable, clean, affordable and eco-friendly mode of commutation for a healthy tomorrow.
The ride began with over 30 riders assembling at Lady Hill Circle at 6 am and riding through the city and its periphery, including the beaches. MBC President Dijaraja Nair, Vice President Sreekanth Raja and other members of MBC and Buddies were present. Members of We R Cycling, another professional group of cyclists who encourage cycling as a lifestyle as well as sports, organised a group ride along the city roads. About 20 kids and 10 senior members were present in the ride flagged off near Mangala Stadium at 6.30 am.
