This is how MCC is all set to prevent floods in Mangalore

May 3: The continuous rain that lashed the city on May 29, 2018 had resulted in artificial flooding due to lack of proper drainage. People in Kodialguthu East, Kodialguthu,  Kudroli, Kodical, Kottara Chowki, and several other surrounding areas were affected due to flood. Due to the heavy rain, 16 houses were damaged completely and 18 houses were partially damaged causing a loss of nearly Rs 41.38 lakh in Mangalore City Corporation limits.
Most of the rajakaluves are blocked due to due to silt and garbage, which will make it difficult for the rainwater to flow. There are possibilities that the flood like situation may repeat in many parts of Mangalore if the MCC does not take any measures.
MCC commissioner B H Narayanappa said that city corporation is all set to prevent flooding or flood like situation during the rainy season by taking precautionary measures. . He said that the  has already commenced the desilting and cleaning of all stormwater drains in the city and desilting at those places in the city will be undertaken  where flooding occurred in 2018. MCC has identified 14-15 major areas in the city where possibility of flooding is more, he added.
