This is how polling affects waste collection in Mangalore

April 24: Garbage collection was partially affected in some localities of Mangalore as some of the civic workers had left for their native places to vote on Tuesday. These workers have been employed by Antony Waste Handling Cell Private Limited, which is engaged in door-to-door garbage collection and transport.
Roadsides, bins outside apartments, shops, and halls were overflowing with garbage in some places, including Balambhat Hall and Hampankatta. Shopkeepers had kept waste in plastic covers outside their shops at Hampankatta, K S Rao Road and Market Road for the civic workers to collect. Stray dogs were seen on the garbage which was kept in the open to be collected by civic workers. The waste collection work resumed on Wednesday morning.
