This is how well known Cardiologist Dr Padmanabh Kamath celebrates his Birthday

April 22: Dr Padmanabh Kamath, head of the Cardiology Department and professor at KMC, Mangalore celebrated his birthday by donating three electrocardiogram (ECG) machines to Wenlock Hospital recently. These machines were handed over to Dr Rajeshwari Devi H R, district surgeon; and Dr Juliana Saldanha, resident medical officer (RMO) at Wenlock Hospital.  The ECG machines will be installed at casualty (three channel), medicine OPD (three channel) and cardiac ICU (single channel) sections. Along with this, Dr Kamath felicitated the security personnel aged above 50 years and who had completed five years of uninterrupted service at the KMC Hospital in Mangalore.
Dr Padmanabh Kamath had launched the ‘Cardiology at Doorsteps’ (CAD) initiative – a WhatsApp network of 450 like-minded doctors. This initiative is a crusade against coronary artery disease. The network covers coastal Karnataka and Malnad region. The objective of the group is screening poor patients for cardiac problems in remote areas free of cost.
The group has installed 145 ECG machines at primary health centres in remote villages with the help of donors and is keen on installing 250 ECG machines by 2020.
