This move by SVEEP Committee will help senior citizens to caste their Vote!

SVEEP Committee  in Dakshina Kannada district has come up with an initiative where senior citizens can easily caste their votes during Loksabha Elections. Senior Citizen-friendly polling have been set up in the district to ensure that there is high percentage of voter turnout including senior citizens.
SVEEP Committee Chairman & Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Selvamani R said that around 5  to 10 senior citizen friendly polling booths have been set up in the areas which have high number of senior citizens. These polling booths will be provided with wheelchairs, walking sticks & walkers for the convenience of senior voters. Along with this NCC & NSS volunteers will also be present to help the senior citizens at the polling booths.
He mentioned that the committee is also planning to set up polling booths for the convenience of persons with disabilities. He even stated that a list of senior citizens & persons with disabilities will be given to these polling booth officers so that special assistance is given to these people.
