Time To Take Precautionary Measures: Dengue Cases in Twin Districts Increase

Intermittent rain in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts has led to rise in the number of dengue cases. Health officials informed that dengue cases have spiked both in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. Dakshina Kannada, which recorded 190 dengue cases in 2021, has already reported 306 cases as on October 15. Meanwhile, Udupi district, which recorded 380 dengue cases in 2021, has so far reported 463 cases. Lack of precautions during the rain may have led to the rise in number of cases. Till June this year, Dakshina Kannada had recorded less than 100 cases of dengue.

Reports of dengue cases in Dakshina Kannada started increasing after May this year. When the region receives intermittent rain, people should be very aware of the possibility of large-scale mosquito breeding. Testing for various virus infections is being done intensively for all fever cases. Hence, the health department is able to track dengue cases effectively. Our goal is to bring the dengue death rate to zero.
