Timings of Mangalore City Buses to be Rationalised Within a Month: Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal
Mangalore City police commissioner Anupam Agrawal informed that timings of Mangalore city buses will be rationalised within a month. After taking into account instances of rash driving and other violations by private city buses, the commissioner convened a meeting in the presence of RTO, bus owners, and officials from the Mangalore City Corporation, Mangalore Smart City Ltd, NHAI, KSRTC and city police.
The commissioner said that RTO Ravishankar and Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners’ Association have agreed to look into the timing issues that are reportedly putting drivers under pressure, resulting in rash driving and rationalise the same in a month’s time.
The other issues raised were the need for having doors for buses with rural permits, bus shelter/ buy bay issues, shrill horns, and installing GPS in buses connecting it with the Integrated Command and Control Centre of the Mangaluru Smart City, so that details of trip cuts, buses not running on Sunday and speed limits are available.
