Traffic Diversions & Parking Curbs to be Followed During Amit Shah’s Visit to Mangalore

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Mangalore on April 29 in view of a road show organised as part of the BJP’s electioneering from the Town Hall up to the Govind Pai Circle. Mangalore police have announced traffic diversions and parking curbs besides erecting barricades at important junctions between 3 pm and 7 pm on Saturday, April 29.

Following are the traffic diversions effected by the city police on Saturday, April 29:

  1. All buses running on Udupi – Mangalore route will proceed on Kottara Chowki – KPT – Nantur – Shivabhag – Bendoorwell – Karavali circle – Kankanady circle – Valencia – till Mangaladevi.
  2. KSRTC buses approaching from Udupi and going towards the KSRTC bus stand will be proceeding via Kottara Chowki – KPT – Battagudde – Bejai – KSRTC bus stand.
  3. Buses going towards the KSRTC bus stand from Talapady and Padil will take the route of Pumpwell – Karavali circle – Valencia – Mangaladevi and return along the same route.
  4. All the buses approaching from Talapdy and Padil to KSRTC bus stand will take the route of Pumpwell – Nantur – KPT – Battagudde – Bejai and reach KSRTC bus stand.
  5. All the buses starting from the KSRTC bus stand to reach KPT or Kottara Chowki will proceed via Kuntikan.
  6. All the light vehicles plying from Kottara Chowki to State Bank should proceed via Ladyhill – Mannagudda – Balaji junction and Bunder junction.
  7. Light vehicles plying from Lalbagh towards Balmatta should proceed via Besant junction – Jail Road – Karangalpady – Bunts Hostel – Mallikatte or via PVS – Bunts Hostel – Mallikatte.

Movement of vehicles except those which are coming for the programme along the route of Town Hall – Clock Tower – K B Katte – Hampankatta – KSR road – M Govinda Pai circle – till PVS will be banned from 3 pm to 7 pm. Vehicles of emergency services, however, can proceed along the restricted banned route also.

Barricades will be erected and traffic will be completely banned on the following roads: 

  • Rao and Rao circle, Lady Goshen hospital
  • Central Market – Lady Goshen hospital road
  • Central market – Clock Tower Road
  • B H S Road to Clock Tower road
  • P M Road to KSR Road
  • Sharavu temple to KSRao road
  • Bavuta Gudde to KSRTC road via City centre road
  • VT road – to Bishop House near Yenepoya hospital
  • Gaddekeri road to M Govinda Pai circle
  • Dongerakeri road to M Govinda Pai circle
  • Sharada school to M Govinda Pai Circle
  • P V S Junction to M Govinda Pai circle
  • Milagres road to Hampankatta junction
  • Forum Mall to A B Shetty circle

Parking at the following places will be prohibited:

KPT junction – Battagudda – Kadri Kambla – Bunts Hostel – Ambedkar circle – Hampankatta junction – till AB Shetty on both the sides of the road from 7 am till the completion of the programme. Town Hall – Clock Tower – K B Katte – Hampankatta – K S Rao road – M Govinda Pai circle – till PVS from 7 am till the programme gets over.

Vehicles coming for the programme can park their vehicles at the following places:

Canara High School, Dongarakeri, St Aloysius school ground, Bavutagudda and Rosario school ground, Pandeshwar.
