Two different cases of murder and assault at Malpe: Are the two cases connected?

April 30: A man who had been working at Malpe harbour in a fishing boat, was found dead in Malpe on Sunday. The victim has been identified as Guruvelu (35) from Hyderabad. The police have suspected a murder and are investigating the reasons behind the murder.
In another case a youth was attacked by miscreants in Malpe on Saturday, April 27. The victim has been identified as Amith (27), a resident of Kola. He has been admitted to a hospital for having critical injuries and is reportedly under observation. Police are probing into the matter to see if there was any connection between the two crimes.
Amith who was resting on the sea shore on Saturday nigh around 12.30 am with his friend Karthik. , was assaulted by an unidentified man with a wooden log.
Based on preliminary investigation, Sources in Udupi Circle Police have suspected Guruvelu to have attacked Amith. Guruvelu had reportedly entered into a fight with other fishermen on Saturday and then left Malpe harbour in the evening.  The fishermen had described him as being mentally unstable.
A case has been registered under Section 302 of the IPC.
