Two Kayakers From Puttur Aquatic Club Participated in Sea Kayak Race Held From Sri Lanka, to Dhanushkodi
Two representatives from the Puttur Aquatic Club (PAC) participated in the inaugural Adam’s Bridge Paddle Challenge – a sea kayak race held from Talaimannar, Sri Lanka, to Dhanushkodi, on April 10 and 11 organised by the Sri Lanka Navy in partnership with the ministry of sports, National Association of Canoeing and Kayak Sri Lanka and Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association.
Paddlers Thrishul Gowda, a third-year BA student of St Philomena College, and Sweekrith Anand, along with Rohith Prakash, team observer, participated in the event.
According to Sweekrith, they started paddling from the northern part of Sri Lanka’s Talaimannar village to Dhanushkodi, covering a distance of 32km in the sea. The event was flagged off at 6.45 am. While Sweekrith completed the championship in 4 hours 28 minutes, Trishul completed it in 5 hours 3 minutes.
