The Sports Authority of Karnataka, under the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, has given its recognition to Karnataka State Kambala Association, Udupi. The recognition is valid for the next three years or till further orders. With the order, the Karnataka State Kambala Association has been recognised as a State sports institution to organise Kambalas.
The president of the association Belapu Deviprasad Shetty said that with the government’s recognition the kambala organising committees will henceforth get annual funds through the association on the recommendation by the association.
With the order issued on October 7, Kambala has officially been recognised by the government.
