Udupi Paryaya Festival Will be Held on January 17 & 18, 2024: DC Directs Officials to Start Arrangements
Udupi deputy commissioner Vidya Kumari K has instructed the officials of various departments regarding the arrangements to be made for the smooth conduct of Paryaya festival, which is scheduled to be held at Udupi Sri Krishna Math on January 17 and 18, 2024. Sri Sugunendra Tirtha swamiji of Puthige Mutt will be ascending the ‘Paryaya Peeta’ for the fourth time during the festival.
The deputy commissioner directed officials of various departments to write to the state government requesting grants to improve basic amenities in Udupi in the wake of the festival. The DC said that since many devotees are expected to arrive from various parts of the country and abroad, all basic amenities should be provided. She insisted that cleanliness has to be given top priority. The roads need to be kept in good condition and additional civic workers should be deployed to ensure cleanliness. Drinking water and other facilities will have to be provided to the visitors. Mobile toilets should be installed wherever necessary, the DC told officials during a meeting held recently.
Police department officials should ensure foolproof security and efficient traffic management during the festival. Temporary parking areas should be identified for the convenience of people who arrive in vehicles. Medical teams will have to be formed on a temporary basis to provide services in case of any emergency.
