Udupi RTO Vernekar’s residence raided: 70 lakhs seized.

Anti Curroption Bureau (ACB) officials riaded the mangalore residence of Udupi RTO M Venekar on Monday & seized 70 lakhs cash, property documents & other materials.
Vernekar & Munaf were arrested while accepting bribe of Rs 4000 at RTO from IT employee Vignesh who was seeking clearance of his vehicle’s road tax documents which was gutted in fire at Aero India Show last month. As Vignesh had purchased the car just a month back, he was eligible for the refund of road tax & had applied to get the required documents from the transport office. Since he had received his insurance amount of Rs 3lakhs, he was waiting for his road tax refund of Rs 65000.
Vdernekar & Munaaf had demanded 10% of this amount as bribe but Vignesh filed a complaint with the ACB and as a result Varnekar was caught red handed in his act of receiving the bribe.
With regards to this bribe, the ACB Officials raided Vernekar’s Mangalore residence. According to sources, cash was hidden in different parts of the house. The house is owned by his mother & wife.
