Udupi to Get A New KSRTC Bus Stand Soon

October 4: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus stand for inter-district and inter-State buses, is under construction on a three-acre land at Bannanje in Udupi. This Bus stand will be ready in seven months and is being constructed at a cost of ₹30 crore.
Presently, the KSRTC bus stand operates from the ground floor of a complex constructed by the Udupi City Municipal Council near the Clock Tower. This bus stand is small and congested, and not more than seven buses can park here at time. The Traffic Controller’s office is located in a small room in a corner of this bus stand.
The new bus stand is a two-stored structure in addition to a ground floor and basement floor. Each floor would have an area of approximately 30,000 square feet. The basement floor would have parking facilities for about 64 cars and 100 two-wheelers. On the ground floor, there will be provision for 18 buses to park at once. It would also have restrooms for passengers, reservation counters, office of the Traffic Controller, restroom for the staff, a canteen and some shops. Though the first and second floors are being constructed at the new KSRTC bus stand, these floors would have provisions for shops and also for a KSRTC Divisional Office, if the KSRTC forms a separate division for Udupi.
