Use of Banned Plastic Bags: MCC Commissioner Akshy Sridhar Warns Action Against Violators

Mangalore city corporation (MCC) commissioner Akshy Sridhar has warned that lawful action will be initiated against vendors who continue to use plastic in the city. The commissioner said that according to an order of the Karnataka Government dated March 11, 2016, single-use plastic which includes plastic bunting, plastic flex, plates, flags, spoons and thermocol has been banned.

The commissioner informed hotels, shops, malls and street vendors that come under MCC limits to adhere to the government order. Despite the order, several establishments have been utilizing banned plastic materials and causing inconvenience for waste management and harm to the environment.
