Vehicle Movement on Surathkal-MRPL Will be Closed Till February 8: Click to Know The Alternate Routes

Mangalore City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrwal issued an order imposing temporary restrictions on vehicle movement on the Surathkal-MRPL Road for two months starting December 11, due to concrete work on the railway overpass, advising the use of alternative routes.
For residents near Surathkal, an alternative route via Chokkabettu Road near Suraj Hotel is suggested, and those coming from Mangalore are advised to use the Kulai – Kana Road to reach Chokkabettu. As per the order, the temporary restrictions with diversions will be in force for 58 days between December 11 and February 8, 2025.
The move to completely close the busy road for two months for concreting a 100-meter stretch has caused public anxiety. The alternative internal roads identified now are not capable of handling the heavy vehicle traffic. The repair work on these roads is also not fully completed. This will certainly lead to traffic chaos.
