Vijaya Bank to be merged with Bank of Baroda from April 1
Despite severe opposition from several quarters which includes the employees and customers of Vijaya Bank to retain the identity of the bank, the merger is set to happen with Bank of Baroda on April 1, Monday and will be known as Bank of Baroda. The customers of Vijaya Bank have got SMS alert confirming the merger.
Protests were held initially when a declaration about the proposal to merge Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda was made. Retired employees of Vijaya Bank had joined hands in the efforts made to save the identity of the bank.
The messages which was sent to customers of Vijaya Bank on said that Vijaya Bank is being merged from April 1 onward with Bank of Baroda and all its services will remain unaffected. It informed the customers that they would be part of the third largest banking network of India from April 1. The current account number, debit and credit cards, net banking and mobile banking facility of the customers will continue to be available as before. For more details, the customers have been asked to contact branches of Vijaya Bank.
