Water Level in Thumbay Dam is Decreasing: MCC Decides to Initiate Water Supply From Harekala Dam.

The water level in Thumbay dam is decreasing by 0.08 meters daily in spite of water supply from the AMR dam. The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has decided to utilize an additional pump to extract water from the Harekala dam.

MCC clarified that water rationing will not be implemented at this time. However, it is currently not feasible to transfer water from the AMR dam to Thumbay dam for the next 30 days due to the former’s water level being 15.68 meters above sea level. Consequently, the district administration has instructed MCC to arrange for the pumping of water from the Harekala dam to Thumbay.

Drinking water is being supplied daily from Thumbay dam, and there is currently no shortage in Mangaluru city. However, the water level in Thumbay dam is gradually decreasing, prompting several measures to avert any potential drinking water shortages in the future
