Waterfront Projects Under Mangalore Smart City Limited Incomplete: What Is The Reason?

Minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada Dinesh Gundu Rao said that even 5% of the works on waterfront projects under Mangalore smart city limited have not been completed . The officials should accelerate the work and complete it within the time frame.

MSCL MD Anand K said that riverfront projects worth Rs 185 crore have been planned. However, the work could not be taken up due to a lack of CRZ clearance. However, the authorities have asked to prepare an island management plan as per the 2019 notification. Promenade works as a part of the riverfront project were planned on a 2.1km stretch on the banks of Nethravathi to Gurupur rivers. Some stretches have issues related to land. The work on the pedestrian bridge at Suthan Battery is also waiting for a CRZ clearance, he added.

Mangalore City South MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath said the non-availability of sand, rain and issues pertaining to land acquisition have delayed most of the works.
