Youth murdered near Mijar: Reason unknown

May 19: A youth was murdered at Dhoomachadavu near Mijar in Badaga Edapadavu. Naveen Bhandary (29), a resident of Kundottu, was working in Kuwait and had returned to his village.
Police, said that Pongu alias Ramesh Shettigar was accused of assaulting and murdering Naveen. Naveen’s brother said that the family had received a call that Naveen was lying in a pool of blood on the road at Dhoomachadavu. Though he was rushed to hospital, he breathed his last. Naveen was a Bajrang Dal member in the past and was running a saloon near Vamanjoor check post. Later, he worked in Kuwait for two years before returning to his village. He had remained unemployed for the past few days. It is suspected that he was murdered either over a financial issue or over past rivalry.
