Uroos at Ullal Dargah Likely to be held This Year: More Information on This

Uroos festival at Hazrat Sayyid Muhammed Shareeful Madani dargah popularly known as Ullal dargah, a popular Islamic pilgrim centre in South India is held once every five years. The 25-day Uroos attracts lakhs of pilgrims from across the country. The Uroos was scheduled to be held in 2020 (previous Uroos in 2015) but was postponed after the pandemic hit. UT Khader, Mangalore MLA, said that as the number of daily Covid-19 cases decreasing in Dakshina Kannada, the district administration is planning to allow the Uroos festival. MLA Khader said that discussions have been held with the district administration and an assistant commissioner has been appointed as nodal officer. Though the dargah committee has been allowed to commence preparation work, the district administration has not finalised dates. Dr KV Rajendra, district deputy commissioner, said dates can be finalised only after taking stock of the pandemic situation at the end of November.
