A Much Needed Move for Netravathi Bridge Discussed by MLA Vedavyas Kamath and DC Senthil

September 2:  Mangalore City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath held a discussion with Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, to prevent a rise in unhealthy incidents such as suicide at the Netravathi Bridge.

Within four days after the suicide of CCD Founder Siddhartha, four people have committed suicide among whom just one person survived. MLA Kamath is in talks with DC Senthil to take appropriate action in the future to ensure that the Netravati Bridge is not labeled as Suicide Point.
MLA Kamath stated that a transparent wall will not affect the beauty of the river and a grill hockey fiber barrier at least 5 to 6 feet high on both sides of both bridges would prevent suicide attempts. Kamath said he has already proposed installation of CCTV cameras on two one-way bridges across Nethravati river.
MLA Kamath said the work would begin within the next few months. He also mentioned that young people must first understand that suicide is not the solution to the problem.
