Actor Ramesh Aravind’s Dream of Wearing a Yakshagana Costume Comes True: This is What He Felt

Actor Ramesh Aravind was in Udupi to participate in the Navaratri celebrations. He visited Kudru Nest resort, along with eminent psychiatrist Viroopaksha Devaramane. The actor received the Shivaram Karanth Award for this year at the late Jnanpith awardee’s hometown, Kota, in Kundapur.

During his visit to Kundapur, Ramesh visited the theme park, made in the honour of Shivaram Karanth. He also got to witness another talent of his through pictures and videos – his passion for Yakshagana. This experience stayed with him and the actor rekindled an old desire – to dress as a Yakshagana artiste. His local friends helped with the costume, make-up and finery.

The actor said “There is an energy that changes within you. You feel different and powerful. I think it’s to do with the history, the culture and the sheer veneration that this art form comes with. It’s impromptu, no rehearsals take place and they perform for eight hours. This shoot is my salutation to this art form and all the incredible artistes who keep it alive…my respect to you,”.
