Elected Representatives, Officials Received A Special Gift With A Message on New Year: Click to Know!

January 2: A group of like-minded people, led by members of Sahyadri  Sanchaya along with Rotaract Mangalore City decided to do something unique with a social message on this new year.
The group visited offices of elected representatives and officials of Karnataka with a gift on Wednesday, January 1. The gift included water in a mud pot, sapling and a cloth bag. Sapling stressed on the need to plant more trees and emphasised on the need for a green city, Mud pot with water stressed on the need to preserve water and cloth bag stressed the need to ban plastic.

This was done with an intention to convey to the elected representatives and officials that New Year celebration should not be restricted to celebrations only but also protect the environment.
Dinesh Holla, convener, Sahyadri Sanchaya, working for the protection of Western Ghats said that it is the time for the administration to wake up and take up water conservation measures and also control use of plastic bags.
The delegation met deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, city police commissioner Harsha and Mangalore City Corporation commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hedge. The group also visited the offices of MLA Mangalore City south Vedavyas Kamath, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and South Police Station.
The saplings were provided by green crusader Madhav Ullal.
