Three kids meet watery grave: Is the Gram Panchayat responsible?

April 3: Three children drown in a water tank at Uddangala in Panaje in Puttur taluk on Wednesday. The deceased children have been identified as Jithesh (13), son of Ravi Moolya, Vismitha (13) and Chaitra (9), daughters of Ravi Moolya’s brother Harish Moolya.
The the Gram Panchayat had constructed the water tank to supply water to the residents. The tank is of six feet height from the ground and has a capacity to store 20,000 litres of water. The children are suspected to have fallen inside the water tank while playing around.
A huge crowd of villagers gathered at the spot and damaged the water tank. People have accused the Gram Panchayat for filling water in the tank which was not yet inaugurated. Sampya police later visited the spot.
