The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert (heavy rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm) for coastal Karnataka from July 2 to July 8. IMD said that heavy rain with sustained wind speed of 30 to 40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over Uttara Kannada district, and moderate rain with sustained a wind speed of 30 to 40 kmph is likely to occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on July 2.
