The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mangalore on July 19, following consistent and heavy rainfall in the region. The Dakshina Kannada district has been receiving continuous rainfall from July 17 night to July 18 night. Holiday has been declared for anganwadis, primary, high schools and pre-university colleges on July 19.
Dakshina Kannada district recorded a maximum temperature of 30.1°C and a minimum of 22.8°C. Wind speeds over the Arabian Sea are expected to increase from 35 kmph to 40 kmph, and fishermen have been advised to exercise caution.
