With the southwest monsoon expected to intensify, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts from June 8 to 10. The weather department has forecasted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, over the next three days. Winds are expected to blow over the Arabian Sea at speeds of up to 60 kmph.
The IMD has also warned fishermen against venturing into the sea for fishing until June 10. Moderate rainfall was recorded on Sunday in and around Puttur, Sullia, Moodbidri, Bantwal and Beltangady in Dakshina Kannada district. Mangaluru received rain during the morning hours, followed by intermittent showers throughout the day under cloudy skies.In Mangalore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 28.9 degrees Celsius, which was 2.1 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 23.5 degrees Celsius, 0.3 degrees below normal.Moderate rainfall was reported across Udupi district on Sunday.
