To ensure food safety and protect public health, the Health Department of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) conducted inspections at roadside food stalls near the Bijai KSRTC Bus Stand. During the inspection, health officials found that some vendors were illegally using Ajinomoto in food preparation violating the food safety norms. The prohibited substance was confiscated, and the vendors were warned against its use.
In a separate inspection near State Bank, , the health officials imposed a total fine of ₹6,000 on three roadside food stalls for using banned artificial food colours.The officials instructed all food business operators to strictly adhere to food hygiene and food safety regulations while preparing and serving food.The MCC warned that strict legal action would be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act against those found using substances harmful to public health or violating food safety norms.
