The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted widespread rainfall across Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi until July 26. The public has been advised to take necessary precautions. According to the forecast, several parts of the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by winds gusting at speeds of 30-40 kmph till July 26.
Although rainfall intensity is has reduced slightly from July 21, the situation remains uncertain and will have to be monitored. Even if the intensity decreases, normal monsoon rainfall is likely to continue until July 29. With rain accompanied by strong winds expected over the coming days, the IMD has advised the public to remain cautious. Fishermen and residents of coastal areas have been urged to exercise extra caution in view of the possibility of very heavy rainfall.
