As water levels at the Thumbe vented dam is receding due to the scorching summer, the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has decided to implement water rationing starting May 4. The rationing system is aimed at ensuring a steady supply of drinking water until the end of the summer season.
Under this plan, water will be supplied to the Mangalore City South and Mangalore City North areas on alternate days (once every two days).
The MCC Commissioner has stated that this alternate-day supply cycle will continue until further notice. Restrictions and Penalties To conserve water, connections to building and construction sites, as well as vehicle service centres, will be disconnected until further instructions. The Commissioner warned that if members of the public are found wasting water unnecessarily, their connections will be severed without prior notice.
