India Meteorological Department has forecasted that monsoon will start by end of May in Southern parts of Karnataka. In anticipation to the predictions, Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (MESCOM) has intensified its preparations to address potential weather-related emergencies.

MESCOM has set up task forces across its operational areas in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, and Shivamogga districts. A total of 489 personnel have been mobilized across 14 divisions, supported by 62 additional vehicles.

In Dakshina Kannada, 146 personnel have been stationed in Attavar, Kavoor, Puttur, and Bantwal, with 29 vehicles ready for deployment. whereas in Udupi, Udupi town has 55 personnel and 5 vehicles, Karkala has 24 personnel and 4 vehicles, and Kundapura has 48 personnel on the ground.

Tree trimming to minimize damage from falling branches began in April and is nearing completion in Kavoor, Mangalore, Bantwal, and Puttur divisions. In addition, 462 dangerously placed electric poles have been repaired, and maintenance has been completed on over 2,600 power distribution transformers.
