The ‘Sindoor Vijay’ park that was developed by Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) at Kottara Chowki was inaugurated on July 6, Sunday. The park was built in memory of Indian defence personnel, at a cost of ₹42.35 lakh.

Y. Bharat Shetty, Mangalore City North MLA, said that the park was named as ‘Sindoor Vijay’ as a tribute to the recent Operation Sindoor in which India destroyed nine terrorist camps in Pakistan. The park, located at the junction where the main road from the National Highway 66 leads to the city, was also dedicated to the family of Indian defence personnel.
